Out with the Old, In with the New: A Fresh Start for Your Fitness Journey
By Louise Malone, Manager of Fitness Engagement
There’s something powerful about this time of year.
As the seasons begin to shift, many cultures and communities mark this moment with traditions rooted in renewal, reflection, and fresh beginnings. Whether it’s Passover cleaning, spring cleaning, celebrating a holiday, or simply embracing longer, brighter days, there’s a shared energy around starting again.
It’s a time to reset our spaces, clear out what no longer serves us, and make room for something new.
What if we approached our fitness the same way?
Like our homes, our routines can become cluttered.
Old habits. Outdated plans. Workouts that no longer challenge or inspire us. Sticking to the same classes.
This season reminds us that change isn’t just possible, it’s beneficial.
Time to Take Inventory
Before jumping into something new, ask yourself:
- Is your current fitness routine still working for you?
- Are you feeling energized, or just going through the motions?
- Have your goals shifted?
This is your opportunity to clear out what no longer fits.
Maybe it’s time to:
- Let go of a routine you’ve outgrown
- Try a new activity, class, or piece of equipment
- Revisit and update your goals
- Shift your mindset from “I have to” to “I get to”
Make Space for Growth
This time of year invites us to move from where we’ve been to where we want to go.
Your fitness journey should feel the same.
Growth doesn’t always mean doing more. Sometimes, it means doing things differently.
You Don’t Have to Do It Alone
If you’re unsure where to start, or if your routine needs a refresh, speak with me or any of our personal trainers here at the Y. We’re here to answer your questions, provide direction, help you reassess your goals, and build a plan that works for you.
Sometimes, all it takes is a conversation to spark a whole new direction.
Looking forward to helping you take that next step,
Louise
