Children's Recreation & Sports

The Y offers a wide variety of youth programs that keep kids moving, creating, and growing — including basketball, gymnastics, pickleball, wrestling, Krav Maga, art classes, swimming, and more. 

Y Junior Membership (2-11)

Our Y Junior members can enjoy swimming with a parent and have access to special member benefits, including early registration and discounted rates for Y activities and  programs. Please note that Y Junior members do not have access to fitness facilities. This is an annual membership.

Sports

Teens will build confidence, improve fitness, and learn real boxing techniques in a safe, supportive environment with an expert trainer.

The Jr. WNBA by Wolves Youth Basketball is a national youth basketball program designed to develop fundamental skills, sportsmanship, and a love for the game of basketball. The WNBA & Canada Basketball grassroots initiative empowers community sport groups, facilities, and clubs to positively influence youth through basketball.

This introductory program is designed to familiarize young children with the fundamentals of basketball in a supportive and engaging setting. Participants will explore the basics—such as dribbling, passing, and shooting. Through age-appropriate games and guided activities that emphasize movement, coordination, and enjoyment. Focused on building confidence, fostering a love for the game, and introducing the values of teamwork and fair play in a welcoming environment.

Develop confidence, patience, discipline, endurance, strength and the habits of great physical health through Krav Maga. David Shickler is an experienced Black Belt and 1st Dan teacher who creates a positive and engaging mixed-level environment where all can learn the fundamentals of this Israeli self-defense practice.

If your child loves to flip and be active come join J-Force Gymnastics with Jessica Salis, a competitive gymnast and gymnastics coach who will give your kids the time of their life! We do gymnastics in a fun, safe and warm environment and can guarantee that they will improve in their skills. From tumbling with friends to perfecting their balance, gymnastics will be the highlight of their week. Your kids will learn about grit, never giving up, positive attitude, team spirit, and how to shoot for the stars. No matter what level, experienced or not, your kids will learn to flip to new heights with success.

A fun and engaging multi-sport fitness class for kids ages 3-5, designed to introduce them to basic movement skills through a variety of activities like running, obstacle courses and circuits. This class helps develop coordination, balance and teamwork in a playful, high-energy environment!

This fun and engaging class introduces kids to the exciting world of pickleball! Through guided instruction, age-appropriate drills, and cooperative games, participants will learn basic skills like grip, forehand and backhand strokes, court movement, and simple rules. The focus is on building coordination, teamwork, and confidence in a supportive setting.

11 to 14 years

In this intro to Dance class, kids will be able to learn fundamental dance techniques while exploring a number of different styles—including ballet, jazz, and hip hop. Through age-appropriate instruction, engaging music, and playful activities, each class will build skills like balance, coordination, rhythm, and spatial awareness. Encouraging imagination, confidence, and a love for movement.

3 to 4 years

Activities

This class is designed to inspire young minds to explore their creativity and express themselves through a variety of artistic mediums. The Sylvan Adams YMYWHA has a wonderful in-house piano teacher.  Maxim Shatalkin, international award-winning concert pianist, recently moved to Montreal from Ukraine.  He is available to teach beginner, intermediate or advanced piano to 7-year-olds through adults.
