Y Bat Mitzvah Program
For Girls in Grades 6 & 7
A Meaningful Jewish Journey
The Y Bat Mitzvah Program is designed for girls in Grades 6 & 7 who are looking for a meaningful, group-based Bat Mitzvah experience outside of a synagogue setting.
Facilitated by a local woman educator, this program is ideal for participants who are not currently enrolled in Jewish day schools but are eager to connect with their identity, traditions, and community in an engaging and inclusive way.
What to Expect
Each session blends hands-on activities, meaningful discussions, and creative expression. A light supper will be served weekly, creating a warm and welcoming environment for participants to connect and grow together.
Through a unique four-part series, participants will explore what it means to become a Bat Mitzvah—rooted in Jewish values, personal reflection, and joyful connection.
- Week 1: introductions, icebreaker games and activities relating to Shabbat, and the Jewish concept of rest and self-care
- Week 2: activities relating to Challah, food and the Jewish concepts of gratitude and collective memory
- Week 3: activities relating to Family, and the Jewish concepts of peace and community solidarity
- Week 4: parent-child celebratory meal with art activity and vernissage
