Your support allows us to continue to provide children with programming that promotes physical and mental wellbeing, through a variety of engaging activities. We know that together, we can help kids realize their potential through vital sports and recreation programs that serve the local community. Now, on to the details.
The details:
On Sunday, May 26th, Westbury Street will be closed off and transformed into pickleball courts, and Mackenzie King Park will host an incredible community carnival that promises a plethora of activities and treats for the whole family. The Y Pickleball Championship and Picklepalooza will delight participants of all ages, and it will be a day filled with laughter, joy, and unforgettable memories – a true celebration of the community spirit we hold so dear.
Two-person teams are invited to register in either the competitive or recreational divisions, and are asked to raise a minimum of $360 per team.
Teams will then compete in a thrilling bracket tournament, competing on the courts to win a prestigious title of Pickleball Champions! As the competition heats up, participants will be treated to delicious meals and snacks to keep them energized throughout the day.
New to pickleball?
Welcome! Here’s the deal: Pickleball has been enjoying a resurgence of popularity with people of all ages and stages. Simply put: Pickleball is for everyone! You’ve got paddles (kind of like oversized ping pong paddles) and a wiffle ball (those plastic ones with holes). You smack that ball back and forth over a net, aiming to keep the rally going without letting it touch the ground. The catch? You’ve got to stay inside the lines of the court, just like in tennis.
It’s also super laid-back and adaptable, so whether you’re a seasoned athlete or just starting out, you can jump in and enjoy. Plus, it’s social! You can play singles or doubles, making it a perfect way to connect with friends or meet new ones. At the Y alone, we have over 20 different court times a week, including 9 slots with a coach! Have a look at our schedules to find a time that works for you.
This is gearing up to be THE event of the season, the one that everyone’s going to be talking about.
So what are you waiting for? Register your team today.
