12+ years old.
Standard First Aid is a 16 hour CPR and first aid course that prepares a candidate to take the national lifeguard course.
This course must be completed before the National Lifeguard Exam takes place.
There is no prerequisite needed for SFA.
First Aid Instructor recertification is also available.
9+ years old
Bronze Star is the first Bronze level award and will prepare participants for Bronze Medallion.
This course will introduce you to lifesaving; you will learn to problem-solve in emergency situations, to make decisions as an individual and as a team member, to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and develop self-rescue skills.
Prerequisite: Must be at least 11 years old. Must be able to swim 400m.
13+ years old.
Learn how to respond in complex water rescue situations the bronze medallion course provides both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in life-saving techniques CPR and emergency care.
Prerequisite: 13 years and Red Cross Swim Kids Level 10 or equivalent or Bronze Star.
13+ years old.
Bronze cross is a prerequisite for the National Lifeguard program. It is designed for Lifesavers. It provides more advanced training and an introduction to safe prevention and aquatic facilities.
Prerequisite: Bronze Medallion.
15+ years old.
National lifeguard is the only nationally recognized program for lifeguard training emphasis is on teamwork communication and prevention thus preparing candidates to safely and efficiently supervise an aquatic facility.
Prerequisite: Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid (must be completed before the exam).
16+ years old.
The Lifesaving instructor recertification exam is your opportunity to demonstrate your skills and recertify your certificate. You are responsible for reviewing the required content and skills and preparing yourself for the exam.
