Even during our temporary closure the virtual programs that we offer through our Inclusions Services are making a difference in people's lives, helping them stay connected and feel less isolated.
The best part of being a trainer is to see my participants leave a class feeling energized, happy and strong. The fact that I can make people feel good and motivate them, while doing something that I love, is the best part of this job.
I’ve taught a variety of classes over my 30 years at the Y. In the 90s I taught Step and Hi-Lo aerobics, in the early 2000s I started teaching Cycle classes and Body Design. I now teach Cycle, Circuit training , HIIT/ Metabolic classes, Small Group Training and Strength Conditioning.
My motivation comes and goes and that's completely normal. Having a workout schedule planned in my calendar makes it easier for me to take that time for myself. Some days are easier than others but in the long run, discipline is what makes the difference.
I always knew online workouts could be great (since I started doing them 2 years prior to Covid), but what I learned was how helpful it is to do group classes online when people are in crisis. It’s so helpful to see/speak to others that are in the same situation as you.
